provide language support with nursing fundamentals, focusing on tutoring English for medical contexts, bridging cultural gaps, assisting with clinical skills practice (simulations/labs), clarifying nursing policies, and advocating for diverse students to enhance their communication, confidence, and academic success in a demanding program; Key duties involve individualized coaching, resource management, collaboration with faculty, and fostering an inclusive learning environment for future international/ESL nursing students; teaching a clinical section in either year 1 or year 2 of the nursing curriculum, and develop additional resources; collaborate with the Nursing Department Chair and the Dean of Nursing to establish a schedule for providing and advertising these additional resources: 1. Language & Communication Support: Tutor students individually or in small groups on specialized nursing terminology, medical English, and communication strategies for patient care; provide informal English practice for clinical scenarios and everyday interactions; help students understand cultural nuances in patient communication and healthcare settings. 2. Academic & Clinical Skill Bridging: assist students in understanding complex nursing concepts, academic policies, and NCLEX-RN standards; support students in lab/simulation settings, ensuring they grasp procedures and can articulate their actions; collaborate with faculty to develop culturally sensitive teaching materials and strategies for ESL learners. 3. Student Advocacy & Mentorship: serve as a liaison between ESL students, faculty, and administration, advocating for student needs; foster a welcoming, supportive environment that builds confidence and reduces anxiety; assist students develop proactive learning strategies for clinical placements. 4. Resource & Program Management: manage supplies and materials for dedicated ESL support labs/areas; track student progress and maintain relevant records; assist in coordinating support services and participate in team projects. Assist admissions to coordinate recruiting events (3 minimum); collaborate with admissions to answer nursing program related questions.
