| CAMPUS CANDIDS | | | | 32nd Annual Pennsylvania History Conference - 2024 Pennsylvania Women in WWII
The Social and Behavioral Sciences Department at Luzerne County Community College recently held the 32nd Annual Pennsylvania History Conference on Monday, October 14, 2024 at the large auditorium of the Educational Conference Center at the LCCC Nanticoke campus.
Welcome remarks by President John Yudichak and Vice President of Academic Affairs Mary Lou D'Allegro were followed by an Introduction by Richelle Smith, Social and Behavioral Sciences Department, LCCC.
"Rosie's Realm: Pennsylvania Women in World War II", was presented by Jeff Schultz, Social and Behavioral Sciences Department, LCCC; "The Women's Army Corps: Its Creation and Evolution, and the Women of Pennsylvania" was presented by Martha Pezzino, Social and Behavioral Sciences Department, LCCC; and "Women Air Force Service Pilots and the WASPS of Pennsylvania;â?? was presented by Ryan Clauser, Desales University.
During the lunch break, Jim Domzalski, LCCC Enrollment Management, spoke on opportunities at LCCC and David Kovach, commissioner, Columbia County and president, Stuart Tank Memorial Association spoke on the historic tank manufacturing facility in Berwick during WWII.
In the afternoon, Dr. Janis Wilson-Seeley, Social and Behavioral Sciences Department chair, LCCC, presented "My Mother's Call to Duty: A Young Nurse in World War II" to complete the program. The conference was free and open to the public and included lunch, gifts and raffle prizes.
