The latest issue of ABLAZE -- the digital journal of writing @ LCCC -- is OUT NOW! This time around, writers channeled the spirit of EDGAR ALLAN POE in their poems, short stories, and 6-word stories on themes of love, loss, and (gasp!) politics.

Please find it + past issues here:
https://www.luzerne.edu/about/ablaze.jsp

Thank you to ALL the amazingly brave and creative contributors and, on the publishing end, to Kim Hess, Bob Bogdon, and Connie Norton.

Today, Mayor George C. Brown announced the launch of Wilkes-Barre City Office of Economic and Community Development's 2025 Community Survey.

The survey can be accessed online at: www.wilkes-barre.city/communitysurvey and will be accessible until February 28, 2025.

Printed surveys are also available through the Office of Economic and Community Development, 3rd Floor, City Hall, 40 East Market Street, Wilkes-Barre, PA 18711.

The City of Wilkes-Barre's Office of Economic & Community Development is preparing their 2025-2029 Five-Year Consolidated Plan as required by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. Included in the 2025-2029 Consolidated Plan is the 2025 Annual Action Plan.

These plans help to address the most pressing housing and community development needs in Wilkes-Barre and strategies to address those priority needs, as identified by the community.

Citizen participation is a key component of the 2025-2029 Five-Year Consolidated Plan and the 2025 Annual Action Plan. A brief survey has been created which will allow the voices of our community to be heard.

Mayor Brown invites everyone who lives, works, or visits Wilkes-Barre for higher education, entertainment or recreational purposes, to take a few minutes to complete the online community survey linked below. Community participation is greatly appreciated and sharing the survey with friends and family is encouraged.

"The survey will provide an avenue in which residents and visitors can have their voices heard and help identify the city's current and future community development needs", said Mayor Brown.
