4. Information Technology Help Desk

The LCCC IT help Desk is located on the main campus within room 112 of the Campus Center. The hours of operation during major semesters are Monday through Thursday from 7:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m., Fridays from 7:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. and Saturdays from 8:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. The IT help desk can assist you with questions related to such things as student email and network accounts, WebAdvisor accounts, Microsoft Software accounts and downloads, and Blackboard Learn accounts.

For more details, go to the LCCC student intranet and click on the Help Desk Website link that appears in the Computer Labs and Help Desk Hours section.

5. Open Computer Labs

There are two 40-station open use student computer labs at the main campus. One is in building 3, room 308 and the other is in the Campus Center, room 113. These labs are equipped with Dell Computers, Apple iMac computers, and printers. The computers have the latest software packages installed such as Microsoft Office, Web Browsers, and Adobe software. Computer labs are also available at LCCC's dedicated centers.

For lab hours check out the student intranet.

6. Free Microsoft Software for LCCC Students

Luzerne County Community College students that are enrolled in specific science, technology, engineering, & math courses are eligible to download many Microsoft software packages for free as part of the Microsoft DreamSpark program. This program allows you to obtain this software for home use. If you are eligible for these downloads, you will receive an email notification in your LCCC email account at the beginning of the semester. This email will provide you with the link for these downloads and a user name and password to enter the download site.

For more details, go to the LCCC student intranet and click on the Microsoft Software link that appears under the Links menu.

7. Email & Computer Accounts

The College provides all students with email and computer accounts. At the main campus, students are required to log in with their student account name and password. Students using the computer labs at the College's dedicated centers (Hazleton, Berwick, Wilkes-Barre, Shamokin, and Kulpmont) will use an account name of student and Password1 for the password. Students can continue to use their LCCC student email accounts even after they are no longer a student. Student email accounts are deleted only when there is at least one year of account inactivity.

8. Wireless Access

The College provides wireless access at the main campus and dedicated centers. We continue to expand these resources due to the increased demand. The SSID for wireless access is lcccwlan and you will need to login using your network account name and password. In order to alleviate the overwhelming demand for wireless resources, please disable automatic connections from all your devices to lcccwlan. Also, please disconnect all your devices from lcccwlan when they are no longer in use. With your cooperation, wireless resources will be more readily available when needed.

9. Blackboard Learn

Blackboard Learn software is used in many distance learning courses as well as in some traditional classes. When students enroll in a class that uses this software, an account is automatically created. Your Username and initial Password are both your first/last name initials followed by your 7-digit student ID number. For example, if your student ID number was 0987654 and your name was John Doe, your Learn Username and Password would be jd0987654. We recommend that you change your password immediately.

For more details about this software, go to the student intranet and select Distance Education from the left menu.

10. WebAdvisor Access

WebAdvisor allows LCCC students to access and process information from the College's student information system through your web browser. You use this system to view your class schedules, register for courses, see final course grades, request transcripts, etc.

For more details, go to http://webadvisor.luzerne.edu

11. Emergency Alerts

Stay informed by receiving text and/or email notifications on emergency situations, LCCC weather alerts (school closings), class cancellations and other critical LCCC information.

For more details, go to the student intranet and select Text/Email Alerts from the Links menu.

12. Saving Files

For students at the main campus, you can save files to your personal network folder (H: drive). These files are then accessible from any academic computer. You can also save your files to a USB flash drive or external USB hard drive. We strongly recommend that you do not save files to the local computer since these files are not backed up and you may not be able to use the same computer each time.

13. LCCC Main Website

You can find many resources available on the College's main website. Our website was recently redesigned and now includes a search option making it even easier to find what you are looking for.

Please check it out by going to http://www.luzerne.edu.
