| What is the School Theatre Ticket Program?
The School Theatre Ticket Program makes available exchange coupons that can be used to purchase tickets to Broadway and off-Broadway shows and some ballet and opera performances at a discount. These coupons can be used to purchase the discounted tickets at the box office, by mail, and, in most instances, by phone. For example, by using an exchange coupon, one can usually purchase a $100 orchestra seat ticket to a Broadway musical for just $55; a balcony seat that sells for $40 may often be purchased for just $20, and so on.
The coupons are available to current and former students and faculty (both full and part-time) and members of the College's staff. The person obtaining the coupons may purchase as many tickets as he wishes--- tickets for himself , family and his friends, for example.
Discount coupons are available all year round, even during school vacations and summer months. Therefore, students, faculty, and staff can often take advantage of their vacation times to attend the shows in New York.
Because the School Theatre Ticket Program makes tickets available at discount prices, there are restrictions that apply. For example, some shows do not allow these discount coupons to be used to purchase seats in the first five rows of the orchestra. Other shows restrict the evenings/days that the coupons can be used. The restrictions vary from show to show and even vary for the same show from month to month. The restrictions are printed on the coupon itself.
A coupon doesn't guarantee the holder a seat. For example, if you show up at the box office and are told the performance has sold out, this coupon cannot get you a seat.
Smash hit shows which are selling out every night of the week at full price do not have a need to offer themselves through the School Theatre Ticket Program.
The list of plays changes monthly. A full display of the coupons available is located in the Campus Center second floor in front of the Cardio Room. Any question please calls 740-0429. Enjoy!
