9/26/2011 - Used Computers Available to Flood Victims
Each fall semester, the College offers used computers for sale to LCCC students. This year, we will first offer these used computers to those that have been affected by the recent flooding. These computers are systems that were formerly used in LCCC computer labs and offices. Keep in mind that these computers are somewhat outdated and have limited capabilities.
Students who were affected by the recent flooding can acquire equipment by going to the Inventory Control Office in Building 1 at the College's main campus.
The computers being offered are Dell Optiplex GX270s and Dell Optiplex GX520s. The Dell Optiplex GX270 computers have a Pentium IV 2.0GHz processor, minimum 1GB RAM, minimum 40 GB hard drive, and CD-ROM. The Dell Optiplex GX520 computers have a Pentium IV 2.0 GHz processor, minimum 1 GB RAM, minimum 40 GB hard drive, and CD-ROM. Keyboards, mice, and CRT monitors will be included.
The hard drives have been erased and reformatted. CD-ROMs for the MS/Windows Operating System and relevant drivers will be included. These CDs will only work with these Dell computers. No other software will be included. The system are being offered "as is" and technical support will not be provided.
There is a limit of one computer per student and a form must be completed that acknowledges the student was affected by the recent flooding and can benefit by receiving this equipment. There will not be a charge for this equipment for flood victims.
If computers remain available after first being offered to flood victims, these systems will then become available for sale to the rest of the student body starting in November.
